Event Overview

Te Kaunihera o Ngā Neehi Māori is proud to present the 2026 National Māori Student Nurses Hui, hosted at Te Puna Wānaka, Ara Institute of Canterbury.

This annual Hui brings together Māori nursing tauira from across the motu to connect, share experiences, and strengthen their journey within nursing.

Grounded in kaupapa Māori, the Hui supports hauora, identity, and the development of future Māori nursing leaders.

“Ka Rito te Tī” – Sustaining care from within

This year’s kaupapa reflects the importance of nurturing hauora from within—strengthening identity, supporting one another, and building resilience as Māori within the nursing profession.

It acknowledges the collective responsibility we carry, while also reinforcing the need to care for ourselves and each other as we move through our nursing journeys.

The Hui ā Tau is a vital space for Māori nursing tauira to come together, build confidence, and feel supported within a collective that understands their journey.

It strengthens identity, fosters connection, and helps tauira step forward with confidence into their future roles as Māori nurses.

By investing in tauira, the Hui contributes to a stronger, more connected Māori nursing workforce across Aotearoa.
